Despite a steady start to 2021, wedding dress design is coming in with a bang for the year ahead. With brides desperate to break out of the dressing gowns and the monotony of their casual wear wardrobes, expect to see some showstopping dresses ready to wear down the aisle.

Back To Basics:

Wedding dresses with a surprisingly simple front may be hiding a statement design around the back. Think button detailing, low slung tailoring to show off your back or intricate lacework to make your gown work full circle. Or look for a dress with an oversized bow on the back to give interest and a talking point.

What’s Up Your Sleeve:

Mention sleeves and wedding dress in the same sentence and the mind might be already thinking of those high-sheen puffballs on every dress in the 80’s.  But instead, think fitted full length sleeves trimmed in a delicate lace or a sparkling net gathered at the wrist for a softer, more updated take on voluminous, statement sleeves.

Caped Crusader:

Who said capes are only for super-heroes? Floor length capes with a beautiful feature fastening around the neck, or even shorter mid length capes fastened with a bow will add a sense of sophisticated drama to your wedding outfit which will just steal the show as you sashay down the aisle. Think elegant, fairytale villainy!

Lengths You Go To:

Full length gowns are going to be a staple this year. 2021 will see brides donning a floor length gown paired with a high-heeled shoe. Although full length, there will be room to include a split up the skirt to add an A-list touch. Think along the lines of empire line, A-line or sheath style fits to maximise on the full length effect.

Putting Your Neck On The Line:

Forget your classic necklines – sweetheart neckline who? Look to search out a wedding dress with a more unusual neckline. Or where the neckline of the dress is where the drama begins. Pleated fabrics, gathered organza, an asymmetric cut – go for one of these. Or be brave and go for all three.
