Far too much importance is placed on having the perfect summer wedding. Winter can be a beautiful time of the year to get married, allowing you to experiment with different colour palettes and decor.

If you’re looking for some inspiration to warm up your winter wedding, look no further.

Statement lighting

Take advantage of the early sunsets by filling your reception with beautiful, bespoke lighting. Think strings of elegant lanterns, or draping trees and tables with strings of bulbs.

Flickering faux candles along the aisle and on reception tables can turn that gloomy day into an ethereal glow.

Experiment with seasonal flowers

Rather than trying to create a fake summer feeling with bright summer flowers, embrace the beautiful autumn tones and evergreen foliage for your wedding flowers. Wreaths filled with winter vines and flowers.

Branches and pine cones can be used throughout the day to decorate rooms and tables.

Cosy up

If your ceremony is taking place in a large church or outside in a marquis, give your guests a beautiful memento and keep them warm by offering guests a beautiful handknitted blanket. It can be embroidered with the date and initials of your wedding.

Warm up from the inside with hot drinks

Alongside the usual wine and beers, let your guests choose from a range of hot drinks too. This doesn’t mean turning your elegant wedding into a coffee shop, you can keep it simple and cosy with warm mulled wine or a hot chocolate station.

Final thoughts

Even with the temperature dropping, you can still have the wedding of your dreams, full of elegance, charm and character. Embrace the colder seasons and the opportunities they provide to do things a little differently.
